Philips 939 Top Super Eight Tube Radio 1939 Vintage Restoration Data Picture Schematic
This Philips 939 Super was a classy, high price, top of the line World Receiver, an eight tube, multiple band radio set from 1939. It had an IF section using a just fashionable, new 473 kHz for the IF [Intermediate Frequency] frequency. This set had a built in turntable with automatic relay driven on-off circuit. LW [Long Wave], MW [Medium Wave] and SW [Short Wave] was, and still is, a standard mode of operation on European radios. The radio is housed in a large stylish wooden furniture type enclosure and an illuminated wide colored glass scale with the European city names marked for each strong station.
